    It was an invention that led to the first Jaeger-LeCoultre workshop. Edmond Jaeger (1858-1922), a great French watchmaker and specialist in fine micro-engineering devoted his life to developing mechanisms to measure speed: chronographs, tachometers, kinemometers and counters used in aviation, shipping and automobiles.
